Terelj National Park is permanently inhabited by local people who continue their traditional lifestyles by herding livestock in park buffer areas. The parks existence, and its economic support from tourism, allows these traditional practices to be maintained and limits urban drift.

Tourism is an important income generator for local families. By hosting travellers during homestays locals receive financial support and cross cultural education is promoted between both parties who learn about each others lifestyles.

Local communities are empowered further by the livelihood they receive from selling food, such as meat and dairy products, to tourist camps spread throughout the park.

Park entrance fees contribute to the protection and development of Terelj National Park. So your money is going directly into building and preserving a strong future for the park and its inhabitants.
