Terelj National Park Horse Riding Tour

Terelj National Park is one of the best tourist destinations in Mongolia and easily accessible from Ulaanbaatar. It is a home for many species of wild animals including beer, ibex, wolf, deer and rare birds. It is a part of Khan Khentii Mountain Range that covers 1.5 million sq meters.

There are many good tourist camps in the park and you have the opportunity to hike, horse/camel ride, and mountain climb. One of the best of these activities is horse riding not only because it is a great way to cover ground and experience the great outdoors but also because you can commune with the legendary horse riders of Mongolia blazing these trails.

Itinerary

  • Pick-up from your location in Ulaanbaatar city and drive to Terelj National Park (55 km, 1 hour, paved road).
  • En route in the park, stop over for sightseeing and photos.
  • Reach the Turtle Rock in the centre of the park, ascebd the rock (for 10 minutes) and explore the area. Total exploring time - 30 minutes approximately.
  • Start horse riding to Aryabal Buddhist temple (4 km, 50 minutes for one-way).
  • Upon arrival, leave the horses with our wrangler, cross a suspension bridge, ascend the hill by walking on the paved passage and reach the temple (15 minutes walk). Explore the area, enter the temple and see the interesting paintings about the story of Buddha and other gods. 30 minutes approximately, shoes off to enter the temple.
  • Descend and ride back to the Turtle Rock (4 km, 50 minutes for one-way).
  • Have some rest (if needed) and drive back to Ulaanbaatar City.
