The Swan Lake, the 3 acts and 4 episodes ballet, was written by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The ballet was first performed in Mongolia in 28 June 1975. The conductors are J. Chuluun and Ch. Jamsranjav. It has been successfully performed in Ulaanbaatar every year and gained high reputation among the audiences.
The scenario was written by Vladimir Begichev and Vasiliy Geltser, and the music was composed by Tchaikovsky in 1875-1876. The choreographer of the original performance was Julius Reisinger. The ballet was premiered in 1877 at the Bolshoy Theatre in Moscow.
Swan Lake was the first ballet set to the score of a symphonic composer. At this time, scores for ballets were usually written by composers known as "specialists" - who were highly skilled at scoring the light, decorative, melodious, and rhythmically clear music that was at that time in vogue for ballet.
